23. Como

Whenever anybody mentions Como I fondly remember my great uncle Perry Wibble.

He spent his early years on the mean streets of Manchester but eventually emigrated to Italy to live in the beautiful town of Como beside the lake of the same name.  His love of football went with him and he became a faithful follower of his new local side.

He had a magnificent singing voice and made a comfortable living singing in the bars and clubs of the town, entertaining the many millionaires who visited the area from all over the world.

One of his most Magic Moments was when he was spotted by a holidaying American showbiz impresario and was offered the opportunity to tour Europe and the USA.

He said "I was all by myself and this guy ain't misbehavin' so I jumped at the chance, so I sailed down the Moon River and made money in light entertainment."

He became a celebrity and lived comfortably for the rest of his life.

For this reason alone I hope Como thrash whatever team they happen to be playing tonight.

22. Leeds United

Whenever anybody mentions Leeds United I fondly remember my great uncle H.H. Wibble Snr who hailed from the Roundhay area of that fair city.

He could normally be found in his local pub (unimaginatively named The Roundhay) where he and his friends would regularly put the world to right over several vessels of Tetley's and some snap.

He was a proud Yorkshireman, 'strong in'th arm but definitely not thick in'th head' and successfully petitioned the council to install the covers over the shopping arcades that the city is famous for.

He used to support his beloved Leeds United through thick and thin but usually only when he could get a free (or much reduced price) ticket to go to see them.

"It's allus pissing down round here", he'd say, "If I were a millionaire I'd get t' council to spend a bit of brass to put roof on't shopping area so t' lass doesn't get hair wet. A hairdo that I paid far too much for I'll remind you!"

So when he won his million on't pools that is precisely what he did, he took his straight talking to the council and wouldn't give up until he got what he wanted.

A local reporter once asked him how he felt about becoming such a hero and community figure, all he'd say was "I never do owt for nowt unless it's for mesen".

For that reason alone I hope Leeds thrash whoever they happen to be playing this weekend.
